Career

Our practice is growing!

Attention second-year law students!  If you are looking for a future summer associate position, read more about our program below.  Our needs are met for 2009, but we may be looking for good candidates for the summer of 2010.

Working at Beckman Lawson is different than working for most firms. Consider it the best of big-firm opportunity without the rigid layers of overhead and bureaucracy that get in the way of rewarding work. Kick-start your career with great clients, challenging work and real opportunity.

We make sure you’re covered with the important issues -- like competitive compensation and benefits, paid vacation and a retirement plan. And we don’t forget the small stuff either, like paying for your parking and bar association dues, providing a marketing budget and setting reasonable billing expectations that make it possible to lead a balanced life.

Take a test drive in our summer associate program. Roll up your sleeves for real-life work and the chance to interact with Beckman Lawson partners and associates in a broad range of practice areas, cases and issues.

Don’t expect to be pigeon-holed in research. Our summer associates prepare briefs, pleadings, memos and opinion letters. You’ll conference with clients and have a place at the table during depositions, court hearing, arbitrations, a trial or whatever opportunities current cases present.

Our goal is to pack as much experience as possible into three months and allow us both to try the job on for size. As a summer associate, you’ll also receive regular support to discuss workload, assignments, and substantive and procedural questions.

Work and play
. Summer is a great time for more casual, social activities to become better acquainted. In the past we’ve had picnics, concerts, baseball games, golf, softball and more – all good excuses to have fun together and enjoy the cultural attractions of Fort Wayne and the surrounding area.
