The Firm

Rooted in Excellence

Beckman Lawson’s roots date back to 1919 when founding partner Louie Dunten returned from service in WWI and hung up his shingle. Fred Beckman joined Louie in 1954 and Jack Lawson followed in 1961.  Both senior lawyers remain affiliated with the firm today.  The traditions they established, and those of other partners who followed, have created a unique firm culture that emphasizes positive, long-term client relationships.

Through the last eight decades, the firm has evolved but has never wavered from its fundamental approach:

  • Focus on doing what’s best for clients, and what’s best for the firm will follow.
  • Remain a local, Fort Wayne-based law firm that encourages community involvement and support.
  • Hire smart lawyers who are excellent listeners, good communicators and creative problem solvers.

Today the firm is led by a group of eight forward-looking partners who are united in their desire to maintain these core principals.  They combine efficient, aggressive lawyering with old fashioned people skills in a way that puts clients at ease knowing their goals are understood.
