When you encounter family law issues, it’s critical to find an attorney who listens intently, understands implicitly, and takes action directly. Our family law practice group is a seasoned team of lawyers that work with our clients to resolve family law problems by minimizing  conflict and maximizing positive outcomes for parents and children. To better assist clients, our lawyers are also trained in the Collaborative approach as a way to resolve family law disputes.

John Brandt is the head of the family law practice group and has over 30 years of experience. He previously chaired the Family Law Section of the Allen County Bar Association and was instrumental in introducing the concept of Collaborative Divorce - an approach that's gaining momentum as a successful way to work through difficult issues and minimize conflict.

Ashley Hand has worked directly with John since 2008. Ashley has an extensive family law practice and has successfully represented parents in matters involving emergency custody proceedings and contempt allegations. Ashley is currently the Vice President of the Family Law Executive Committee of the Allen County Bar Association. She also serves on the board of directors of Fostering Hope for Children, LLC which supports local foster families. Ashley is a former foster parent and mother of 3 boys.

Heidi Koeneman has been practicing law since 1997.  She devotes a large part of her practice to family law, including divorce, annulment, legal separation, child support, parenting time, custody disputes, and appeals of these issues. Heidi was recently named a "Top Lawyer" in Fort Wayne in the area of family law. She also recently became registered as a domestic relations mediator to help families mediate their disputes in family law matters, and in particular to help parents and families resolve their disputes before a matter is filed in court.
